TASMAC to Expand Empty Bottle Buyback Scheme Statewide by September

In a recent development, Tasmac has revealed its plans to expand the empty bottle buyback scheme to the entire state by September this year. This initiative, aimed at promoting recycling and environmental sustainability, has already been successfully enforced in Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Perambalur, Kanyakumari, Theni, Dharmapuri, Tiruvarur, and Nagapattinam districts.

According to a status report presented by Tasmac MD S Visakan before the division bench of justices N Sathish Kumar and D Bharatha Chakravarthy, the scheme will be implemented in Cuddalore, Ariyalur, Pudukottai, Sivanganga, Ramanathapuram, Karur, and Ranipet from May 1. The report also highlighted TASMAC’s commitment to extend the scheme to all remaining districts before September 2024.

In response to the news, the bench also emphasized the need to regulate the number of vehicles climbing up the hills in Nilgiris district, further underlining the importance of sustainable practices in the region
